Consecutive Interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, the speaker and interpreter take turns. First the speaker gives a statement in the source language for up to 15 minutes. While the speaker speaks, the interpreter takes notes. When the speaker pauses or finishes speaking, the interpreter delivers the speech in the target language. It is important that the interpreter uses only as much time as the speaker. After the interpreter finishes his part, the speaker then resumes his speech.

FEDERAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE (FRCP)
